   is no longer possible.
 * _**The Canada Greener Homes Loan also closed on October 1, 2025.

# the Canada Greener homes grant initiative

To respond to the challenge of climate change, the Canadian government created the
Canada Greener Homes Grant, with an investment of nearly $2.6 billion.

The Canada Greener Homes Grant was designed to encourage households to undertake
energy-efficient renovations and upgrades to their homes, such as:

 * Installing or replacing a heat pump
 * Replacing doors and windows;
 * Improving wall, basement or roof insulation;
 * Installing a heat pump water heater;
 * Installing solar panels.

Specifically, it gave access to : 

 * Financial assistance of up to $5,000 for energy efficient renovations;
 * An [**EnerGuide**](https://buildingexpert.ca/efficiency/energuide/) energy evaluation;
 * Expert advice on planning your renovations.
