Being an energy advisor consists of inspecting residential buildings as part of the energy efficiency programs for which Buildingexpert is the service provider.
The advisor is also mandated to offer personalized advice to participants to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
HOW TO BECOME AN ENERGY advisor?
The energy advisor profession requires certain prerequisites.
Before applying, it is important to have:
– Studies in a relevant discipline e.g. building inspection, architecture, mechanical engineering, environment etc. – A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle; – Comfortable with the use of the Microsoft Office suite; – A good physical shape.
As well as the following skills:
– Be professional and have a strong sense of customer service; – Organizational skills and ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances; – Have a positive attitude and a good team spirit; – Be autonomous and resourceful.
Accompaniment and accreditation
Buildingexpert offers a full-time, paid, in-house training program (4 to 6 weeks) that includes several days of coaching from a field consultant, administrative training and exam preparation with our team of passionate trainers!
Under the Rénoclimat program, the advisor must be accredited by Natural Resources Canada before being able to work independently in the field.
