The Canada Greener Homes Grant is designed to encourage households to undertake energy-efficient renovations and upgrades to their homes such as :

The scientific consensus is clear on the origin of climate change, the effects of which on human life are already visible. To respond to this challenge, the Canadian government has developed the Canadian Greener Homes Grant program by pledging an investment of nearly $2.6 billion over the next seven years.

The Canada Greener Homes Grant is designed to encourage households to undertake energy-efficient renovations and upgrades to their homes such as :

  • Installing or replacing a heat pump
  • Replacing doors and windows;
  • Improving wall, basement or roof insulation;
  • Installing a heat pump water heater;
  • Installing solar panels.

Specifically, it allows you to access : 

  • Financial assistance of up to $5,000 for energy efficient renovations;
  • An EnerGuide energy evaluation ;
  • Expert advice on planning your renovations.

Replace the windows or glass doors in your home with ENERGY STAR® certified models. These models meet the highest energy efficiency standards.

Renewable energy
Install photovoltaic panels. Solar power is energy from sunlight, collected and converted directly into electricity by photovoltaic solar panels. Please consult gov. official websites to learn more about this technology.

Resiliency measures
Enhance your homes ability to withstand environmental stressors, such as natural disasters or climate change. *(Must be combined with another retrofit)

Air-sealing
Seal gaps, cracks, doors, windows, vents, ducts and other possible air leaks. This will improve your home's energy efficiency and indoor air quality.

Thermostats
Improve your comfort level and reduce your energy costs by integrating a smart thermostat.

Who is eligible?

The Canadian grant can be awarded to any homeowner or co-owner of a home located in Canada; only one homeowner per home can apply.
